Das Racist

Das Racist.
Probably the greatest indie rap group of right now.
Das Racist is probably one of the most entertaining, interesting, and all around unique indie rap groups of right now. The young group from Brooklyn, NY is composed of MC's Himanshu Suri (aka Heems), and Victor Vazquez (aka Kool A.D.) and hype man Ashok Kondabolu (aka Dap) who has just joined the group recently. They gained much internet success early in their career through the release of their song "Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell" in 2008. With their early fame coming quickly, they were able to release the mixtapes Shut up, Dude and Sit Down, Man. They have been mentioned in numerous magazines after their recent album Relax was released to the mainstream media in September of 2011. The album was the first official release by the indie rap group. They have gained much success especially through the song "Michael Jackson" which reached number one on the iTunes charts as well as in Spin Magazine. Look to see this group right up there with the best of them in no time at all.

WZRD- Teleport 2 Me, Jamie

I was skeptical when Scott Mescudi, a.k.a. Kid Cudi, announced he would be releasing an LP composed entirely of rock. While Cudi made his name in his unique singing/rapping style, I was unsure whether he would be able to pull off an album that wouldn't leave listeners destitute for rap. After his first two singles, Perfect is the Word and Brake, I was positive this album would be an utter gaffe. However, Teleport 2 Me, Jamie gives us a sliver of hope for WZRD. The dreamy crooning of Cudi over a familiar break beat will have you eager for this February 28th release.

Pretty Lights- We Must Go On (Music Video)

Check out the latest single from Pretty Lights, the electronic genius from Colorado. Derek Vincent Smith's (Pretty Lights) latest song closely follows his traditional soulful mood over a hip-hop/electronic beat as a vocal sample continuously reminds us that "times will get better." The video was filmed and edited by Pretty Lights and his creative director, Krystle Blackburn, as they show footage of their travels all around the world.
